iClips.net Live Broadcast F.A.Q.
I've never streamed a live event on iClips.net before - how does this work? When the event goes live, there will be a link posted on both the main site and the event's page. This link will direct you to a stream page. From there, you can watch the show either directly in your browser, or you can choose to open it in an external media player where you can view it in full-screen. The show should have started by now and I don't see a link to the broadcast, what's wrong? Make sure that you are aware of the time zone of the showtime - this is an easy mistake to make, as our time zones are related to the location of the show. If you're sure that it is the correct time, try refreshing the page. If the link still doesn't appear, there may be an unforeseen setback of the start time of the show. Occasionally, due to the nature of live events, there can be delays, such as the band going on later than expected, technical difficulties on-site, or other issues. We appreciate your patience in such cases. Why was the time of the show changed? Live events can be unpredictable, and occasionally times change without prior notice. We try to give viewers as much notice as possible if the time of an event changes. I'm using a Mac and can't open the stream. To watch the stream in your browser, you'll need download and install the Flip4Mac plugin from http://www.flip4mac.com/. This free plugin allows you to watch Windows Media components in Quicktime. Once you've installed it, be sure to restart your browser. If Mac users choose to use Flip4Mac as an alternative, to view fullscreen, you will need to go into your system preferences, click on Flip4Mac WMV, and then choose the "launch Quicktime Player" option. You can then view fullscreen normally in Quicktime. I'm using Vista and can't open the stream. If Internet Explorer 7 isn't allowing you to view the stream, try clicking the "Open in External Player" link on the stream page, or copying that link target into the "Open URL" option in either Windows Media Player or an alternative media player. I'm still not getting any audio or video in my browser. Try clicking the "Open in External Player" link on the stream page, or copying that link into the "Open URL" option in either Windows Media Player or an alternative media player. When I try to open the stream, it gives me an error regarding my Proxy Settings. To resolve the problem, in Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, click the LAN Settings button, and then clear the Automatically detect settings check box. In Firefox, go to Edit, then Preferences, then go to Advanced, Network Tab, then Settings, then select "Direct Connection to the Internet." Also verify that your proxy server settings are correct - in order to do this, you may need to contact your network administrator. It keeps buffering, what can I do? We recommend you have at least a 768 kbps high speed internet connection or higher. If you're on a wireless network, plug into a hard-wired connection if at all possible. Be sure that neither you nor anyone else on your network is actively downloading anything other than the stream, and close bandwidth-heavy programs such as Instant Messaging or Torrenting programs. If you're using Windows XP, we highly recommend you install Autobahn, a free and safe plugin made for optimizing downloads and streams. Can I watch the stream at a different time other than the one listed on the schedule? On occasion we offer encore streams of our events. Many of our events, however, are archived within a month or so of the original broadcast, making them available to view on-demand. Currently we do not offer or support downloads of streams, and it is illegal to download any streams from the iClips website. Do you censor your events? No, we do not believe in censoring events. Viewers should watch at their own discretion, as the nature of live events is unpredictable. I still can't access the stream, what else can I do?
