iClips.net Live Show FAQ

I've never streamed a live event on iClips.net before - how does this work?

When the event goes live, there will be a link posted on both the main site and the event's page. This link will direct you to a stream page. From there, you can watch the show directly in your browser.

The show should have started by now and I don't see a link to the broadcast, what's wrong?

Make sure that you are aware of the time zone of the showtime - this is an easy mistake to make, as our time zones are related to the location of the show. If you're sure that it is the correct time, try refreshing the page. If the link still doesn't appear, there may be an unforeseen setback of the start time of the show. Occasionally, due to the nature of live events, there can be delays, such as the band going on later than expected, technical difficulties on-site, or other issues. We appreciate your patience in such cases.

Why was the time of the show changed?

Live events can be unpredictable, and occasionally times change without prior notice. We try to give viewers as much notice as possible if the time of an event changes.

How do I view the live flash streams?

Ensure that you have the most recent version of Flash Player installed on your computer - we recommend version 10 or higher. You can check the Flash Player website in order to download the appropriate installation files for your computer. Follow the on-screen directions to install the player. After you install the player, restart your browser, then navigate to the broadcast as usual.

A note to Mac users: OS 10.3.x does not support Flash Player 10. If the automatic install above does not work for you, download the 9.0.124 installer to your computer and run it manually.

The live player only shows a blank screen - no audio or video. OR I am getting an error when I try to load the broadcast.

To view the broadcast, you must have Javascript enabled in your web browser. This walkthrough shows you how to enable JavaScript in a number of different browsers. Also, ensure that you have the most recent version of Flash Player installed on your computer - we recommend version 10 or higher.

There is also a known bug in the 'Adblock' extension for Firefox that prevents the Flash player from loading. The developer of the Adblock extension recommends upgrade to Adblock Plus 1.0 to prevent this problem.

The broadcast is continually stopping or buffering, what can I do?

We recommend you have at least a 876 kbps high speed internet connection or higher. If you're on a wireless network, plug into a hard-wired connection if at all possible. Be sure that neither you nor anyone else on your network is actively downloading anything other than the stream, and close bandwidth-heavy programs such as Instant Messaging or Torrenting programs. You can test your connection here in order to help you determine if your connection can handle the broadcast.

The Audio or Video is not as high of quality as I was expecting.

In order for audio and video to be broadcast live over the Internet, it needs to be compressed to some degree. This, consequently, decreases the sound and video quality slightly. Because most of our broadcasts are musical events, we occasionally allow for higher quality encoding of the audio than the video, in effect, sacrificing some of the video quality for better audio. This allows us to keep the bandwidth of the stream down, so that users with slightly slower connections can receive the stream without buffering.

Can I watch the stream at a different time other than the one listed on the schedule?

On occasion we offer encore streams of our events. Many of our events, however, are archived within a month or so of the original broadcast, making them available to view on-demand. Currently we do not offer or support downloads of streams, and it is illegal to download any streams from the iClips website.

Do you censor your events?

No, we do not believe in censoring events. Viewers should watch at their own discretion, as the nature of live events is unpredictable.
